Negative newsabout the economy dominates the media today, but this is also a time of great opportunity in this country. Opportunities for great buys on real estate, business, undervalued stocks and bargains on some collectibles are just some of the great opportunities. For those with cash, now is the best time in over 10 years to find a bargain. "Cash is King", so it makes great sense to consider consigning to our upcoming auctions. But there is also another reason to consider...........
1. 0% commission. That's right, only 0% commission on expensive items. Also very competitive rates on less expensive items. Julia's has always tendered some of the best terms in the industry and is, in part, just one of the many reasons why we are one of the leading auction houses in North America.
2. Cash advances. On important collections or consignments.
3. Finder's fees. We pay significant fees for leads on large and important collections (recently one agent received a check for $165,000 for his lead on a single collection). As Abraham Lincoln is credited with once saying, "...knowledge is your stock in trade". If you know about a collection that could possibly be coming to market, call us immediately. How could you ever make a significant amount of money in an easier way?
4. Free pick upon large collections and large consignments, anywhere.
5. The finest marketing and promotion plan in the business. Our promotion and marketing efforts are the most aggressive in the business. Our catalogs are the finest within the industry. We work for you and we do everything we can to maximize your return.
6.We are auctioneers only, not dealer/auctioneers. Our time, energy, money and efforts are all expended on you. We do not compete with our buyers' buying or with our sellers' selling. We work for you only!!
7. Financial security. James D. Julia's is solid as a rock: in the business for 40 years with our last 5 being the most successful in our history. Banking references available from our banker of many, many years.
8. The strongest rate of return! For a matter of years now, our firm has consistently conducted the highest grossing firearms auctions in history. In addition, we have maintained the highest average sale value per lot on a consistent basis. The last couple of auctions have averaged around $10,000 per lot, per sale. Our Lamp & Glass, Toy, Doll & Advertising and Antiques & Fine Art Divisions are also leaders in their fields.
If you are considering consigning, your primary goal should
be to obtain the greatest net return for yourself. In order to
do that, two things must be in play 1) select the auctioneer
who will get the greatest return for your goods, and 2) select
the auctioneer that will give you the lowest commission
terms. Julia's does exactly that; the greatest rate of return for
the lowest cost. This means the most money for you. Call
today. All inquiries are confidential and without obligation.
About

Julia's Rare Antique Toy, Doll, Advertising & Coin-Op Division has distinguished itself over many years. It is one of the oldest such divisions in the country. In recent years the division has developed a focus on the higher quality and more valuable items. Our average sale value per lot is usually one of the highest in the industry. Our well-established reputation for honest and fair representation has won us the confidence of some of the most advanced collectors in the world.
The department head is Andrew Truman. Originally born and raised in Hallowell, Maine, he later graduated in 1995 from the University of Oregon with a B.A. in English. He taught several years at a private school in Eugene, Oregon, then returned to Maine in 1999 and joined the Julia auction firm. Andrew has distinguished himself over the years as being extremely competent, very energetic, and hard working. Customers find his very polite, professional and personable approach to be exceedingly comfortable to work with.

Andrew's division is co-supported by Julie Killam (who also supports the Rare Lamp & Glass Division). Julie has been with Julia's for over ten years and has mastered almost every position within the company. In fact, at one time during a hiatus between department heads, Julie had actually run the Rare Lamp & Glass Division and put together one of its auctions. In addition to her tremendous accomplishments as an administrative assistant is her warm and tremendously outgoing personality.
In recent years the division has become one of the leaders in the industry. The division specializes in rare toys, fine French dolls, choice antique advertising, mechanical banks, coin operated gambling and arcade machines as well
as rare trains and a vast array of other highly interesting items. As with Julia's other divisions, there is a tremendous depth of expertise and it is one of the reasons for their great success over the years. The consultant Dept. Head Andrew Truman with Administrative Assistant Julie Killam base consists of a number of renowned experts in many fields. Jay Lowe of Lancaster, Pennsylvania,
renowned doll & toy expert serves as chief consultant and cataloger together with other well known figures such as Mike Caffarella, Rick Saxman, Dorothy McGonagle, Phelps Fullerton (advertising), Ed Openshaw (music machines), as well as a host of other specialty consultants.

This division has handled numerous renowned collections. In 2005 we sold the extraordinary cast iron toy collection of Bob & Jackie Stewart. There were a great number of outstanding and important items in this sale. In fact, approximately 35 world records were established in this one auction alone. With some of the finest expertise, industry-leading marketing and promotion campaigns, some of the most competitive commission rates in the trade, and high and frequently world record prices, this division is ready to handle individual items of significance or entire collections. Catalog w/Prices Realized:
Press Release
Our June 26th Toy & Doll Auction Pre-Sale Estimate was $796,000, but the price realized was $1.3 Million!! The very first lot, #1000 was estimated at $800-$1,200 and sold after a brief, but brisk bidding battle for $1,207. Lot #1001, the very next lot estimated at $3,000-$4,000 sold for $14,350. Lot #1002, estimated at $2,000-$3,000 hammered at $3,450. And so it went all the way to a very impressive total of $1.3 Million! The performance of the sold items was 63% over low estimate. A most impressive sale indeed. The best results for a Julia Toy & Doll Auction in the last two and a half years. Despite the declining economy, not only did their Glass & Lamp Auction the week before perform at $1.8 Million but it was also the finest offering to date this year at a Glass & Lamp Auction anywhere in the world. The Firearms Auction performed equally and admirably in March grossing $11.5 Million and was probably one of the finest offerings of antique firearms ever. None of this is a fluke. Late in 2008 with the declining economy, the Julia management team made a decision to take a somewhat radical approach to the depressed economy. Their new business model: “charge less and give greater service to both the buyer and the seller.” The success of this new model as exhibited by the past three auctions is unquestionable. The Toy & Doll auction was extraordinarily appealing for diversity, outstanding condition, rarity and most importantly reasonable estimates with few or no reserves. This auction was a buying opportunity and boasted one of the largest crowds present at a Toy & Doll Auction in recent years. The much touted “Julia Stimulus Plan” featuring the most competitive commission structures in the industry (and a series of amenable benefits to both the buyers and sellers) has proven to be just what customers are looking for in this down economy. Andrew Truman is already working on consignments for the Fall Toy, Doll & Antique Advertising Auction, whether you have one item or an entire collection, call him immediately. This sale already looks like it will be another outstanding offering. Call Today!

Quality and condition met with great enthusiasm from bidders at our fall 2008 toy, doll, advertising, and coin-op auction. The final gross was over $950,000 against a pre-auction estimate of items sold of approximately $637,000. Highlights included the Geraldine Gaba Estate of Scottsdale, Arizona whose superb 50-year collection of dollhouses and miniatures was considered one of the finest collections of its type to hit the market in many years. This collection was joined by fine French dolls, German characters, a wide variety of slot machines and other coin-op, rare and desirable toys, music machines, quality advertising, salesman samples, and much more. With 40 years in the business, Julia’s offers tremendous expertise, a remarkable reputation for honest and fair dealing, and the most competitive commission rates in the industry. No one will get you a greater net return for your valuable items. Below is a selection of highlights from our recent sale.
