Krider's "Sportmens Depot" of Philadelphia, PA. Framed image
size 13-1/2" by 10-1/4" with a beautiful border of foliate arabesque
patterns enclosing six small game scenes with the printing in the middle
advertising Krider as a gun maker and "dealer in fishing tackle and
all kinds of sporting apparatus" touting the established date of
1826. The frame is early period walnut veneer. CONDITION: The flyer is
excellent, sharp and clear, only slightly yellowed with no fading. The
frame has three or four cracks and some loss of veneer from the upper

Good. The barrel retains traces of original damascus pattern, being mostly
a brown patina. The receiver retains about 80% milky nickel on the right

The forearm has a hairline at the left rear and the rest of the wood is

Dated 1870 on the lockplate. Has numerous military acceptance and issue
marks, including "R G / B / 25" on the tang of the buttplate,
along with the Canadian broad arrow. The firing pin has been replaced
with a nipple and a brass insert made for the chamber to allow this to
be used as a muzzle loader. CONDITION: Gray/brown patina overall. The
stock is cracked between the screws on the left side and has numerous

295. FINE J.G. SYMS PERCUSSION HALF STOCK RIFLE. No SN. .50 cal. 23-7/8"
octagonal barrel. Marked "J.G. SYMS 44 CHATHAM ST N.Y." on both
lock and barrel. The German silver fittings are all lightly engraved.
The trigger guard has a pheasant on the bow and the inlay on the beaver
tail cheek piece is a snarling wolf. The ramrod is a replacement. CONDITION:
Traces of finish are visible under the light coat of rust on the barrel.
Would probably clean very well. The stock retains about half of its original
varnish, but has a couple of small cracks at the butt, and some staining
from corrosion around the inlays. The lock works good, but the set trigger

lock dated 1833. Nipple in barrel conversation, missing the nipple. The

is cracked in several places and has chips at the toe. Mechanically needs

drag. CONDITION: Good. Blade has several broad areas of dark staining.
Knucklebow is bent. Scabbard body is strong with light surface flaking.

hilt is badly corroded at the joints. The scabbard retains about 80% of

302. HORSTMANN MUSICIAN'S SWORD. 28" single fuller blade marked
"HORSTMANN / PHILa" on the right ricasso, "P" on the
left. No issue markings. The blue steel scabbard has brass throat and
drag. CONDITION: Light pitting on blade, mellow patina on hilt. The scabbard
is covered with light surface rust. The throat is corroded, the drag is

303. EUROPEAN TYPE SWORD 31-1/4" single fuller blade with etched
U.S. designs, but no maker's mark. The leather scabbard has long gilt
bronze mounts with multiple sets of four lines surrounding them. CONDITION:

3 inches of the tip has been ground. The knuckle bow of the hilt is broken
off and missing. The mounts of the scabbard are very good, but the leather

on both sides with leaves and military figures. Marked "N.P. AMES
/ Cutler / Springfield." Note the use of the Springfield address

is a replacement. CONDITION: Blade is fine, with some minor nicks in the
edges. The hilt has a very dark patina, with some bending to the cup.

in diameter with wick and spout mounted on two iron wire swivel arms and
a tin collar fitted to a wooden pole 43" long. Typical of 19th century
crude manufacture of these parade torches were commonly seen at political

Rifle with 26" round barrel, tall front sight and carbine ladder
rear sight, full-length forearm with metal forend tip and barrel band
with sling swivel. The receiver is etch engraved on the left side of the
receiver with "NRA" and the dates "1871" and "1971."
It is fitted with a carbine buttstock and has an NRA medallion inletted
on the right side. SN NRA53630. This musket is consecutively numbered
with lot #312, an NRA commemorative rifle. CONDITION: New, unfired, in

312. *WINCHESTER MODEL 94 NRA COMMEMORATIVE RIFLE. CAL.: .30-30. Built
like a Model 64 with 24" tapered round barrel, ramp front sight,
semi-buck horn rear sight, 2/3 magazine, deluxe forend cap with sling
swivel, beavertail forearm, pistol grip stock with black composition buttstock.
The right side of stock inletted with an NRA medallion. The receiver is
etch engraved on the left side of the receiver with "NRA" and
the dates "1871" and "1971." Accompanied by its original
box with colorful outer sleeve, sling swivels and a saddle ring. SN NRA53631.
This rifle is consecutively numbered with lot #311, an NRA commemorative
musket. CONDITION: Appears to be new and unfired, retaining virtually
all its original finish to wood and metal, with a small gouge on the pistol

313. WILLIAM MOORE DOUBLE BARREL PERCUSSION SHOTGUN. No SN. 16 ga. cal.
37-3/4" barrels. British export marks on bottom. The two ramrod pipes/barrel
keys have been re-brazed. The ramrod and nipples are replacements. CONDITION:
Heavy rust/brown patina on all metal surfaces, partially cleaned at the
rear of the barrels. Minor chips missing under the barrels on the forearm.
Scratches and dents elsewhere on the wood. The bores have been ground
for a 1/4" at the muzzle, but are heavily pitted beyond that. Mechanically

314. UNMARKED DOUBLE BARREL PERCUSSION SHOTGUN CAL: about 14 bore. Probably
English made with 32" damascus barrels, plain concave wide rib with
"BEST DAMASCUS" in gold. The lockplates and hammers are lightly
engraved with fine arabesque patterns. The one-piece wood stock has teardrop
side panels, straight grip and a Parker Brothers deep dog head buttplate.
It has a replacement rammer in the two-iron guide. SN 9 CONDITION: Good.
No original finish remains. The barrels are a good dark brown patina,
and the lockplates are a silvery-brown patina. The wood shows much wear

315. RICHARD HOLLIS DOUBLE BARREL PERCUSSION FOWLER. CAL.: about 10 bore.
Early percussion fowler with 39-3/4" damascus barrels having two
silver bands at the breech with a touch mark on the rib. The back action
locks and hammers are lightly engraved and bear the maker's name. The
one-piece stock has German silver furniture and the original rammer is
present. No SN. CONDITION: Good-plus. The barrels retain a dark brown
patina with some crusty rust. The forearm is missing two escutcheons and
the trigger guard front tang is broken. It appears that the lower tang
is bent, as the lockplates are slightly out of position, with two large

316. UNUSUAL ENGLISH PERCUSSION BREECH LOADING RIFLE. SN 1593. .40 cal.
24" octagonal barrel marked "WILLIAMS & POWELL, LIVERPOOL."
on top of the barrel with the name only on the left side of the action.
This was probably made as a cased set with interchangeable, rotating breechblocks
for percussion and needle fire. Only the percussion block remains with
it's corresponding, flat, pivoting striker plate on the hammer. CONDITION:
Smooth, blue-brown appearance with some light surface rust on the barrel.
The stock has one large gouge on the left side near the butt, otherwise
normal handling marks. The bore is evenly pitted, the action is tight.

317. *WINCHESTER HIGH WALL MUSKET. SN 122079. .22 short cal. 28"
barrel. Has a large military type sight at rear of barrel with Winchester
proof in front. CONDITION: Retains about 90% old re-blue on barrel mixed
with light surface rust and pitting. The action has traces of blue on
the sides and 50% on the lever. The wood has normal dents and scratches,

318. HOPKINS & ALLEN XL SHOTGUN. CAL.: .44. Falling block action
with 24" round barrel, splinter forearm and semi-pistol grip stock
with smooth steel buttplate. No SN. CONDITION: Poor. No original finish
remains, being mostly a dark patina. The forearm is missing a large splinter
on the barrel channel and the buttstock has been shattered and repaired
with wood screws. The bore with some shine, has heavy pitting. 4-43841

319. *WINCHESTER THUMB TRIGGER MODEL SINGLE SHOT RIFLE. CAL.: 22. Tiny,
unusual boys rifle with 18" round barrel, fixed sights and one-piece
slab stock with Winchester black composition buttplate. The rifle does
not have a convention trigger, but is fired by depressing a release button
behind the bolt. No SN. CONDITION: About good. Traces of original finish
in the sheltered areas, with the balance of the metal being a cleaned
silver/gray. The stock has two repaired cracks emanating from the wrist.
The balance of the wood retains most of a restored finish. Dark bore,

320. STEVENS TIP-UP TARGET RIFLE CAL: .32RF Standard grade rifle with
28" octagon barrel, Beech's front sight, old hand-made open barrel
sight and a Stevens ladder rear sight, nickeled receiver and straight
stock with nickeled crescent buttplate. SN 367 CONDITION: Good to very
good. The barrel retains 75-80% dull blue, the receiver about 90% dull
nickel, the stock is cracked behind the top tang down the right side about
4" and is missing two slivers from the right wrist. The buttplate
retains 85-90% nickel. Strong, dark bore that may clean. Missing the extractor.

321. *WINCHESTER MODEL 03 SEMI-AUTO RIFLE. CAL.: .22 Win Auto. Standard
grade rifle with 20" round barrel, open sights, uncheckered wood,
early model with upper tang drilled for tang sight. SN 85835. CONDITION:
Good to very good. The barrel retains 92-94% strong bright original blue,
the receiver is flaked with about 25% thin blue remaining. The forearm
is sound and retains about 60% varnish, the stock is cracked through the
wrist and retains about 90% original varnish. Bright, shiny bore. 4-44092

grade rifle with 20" round barrel, butt feed magazine, standard front
sight, barrel blank in the rear dovetail, with a Lyman peep tang sight,
uncheckered stock and forearm. SN 62127. CONDITION: Good. The barrel retains
95-96% strong original blue with two spots of rust, the receiver retains
about 10% original blue with the balance a silver/gray brown. The forearm
has two long hairline cracks, and is dark and oil stained and retains
about 50% finish. The buttstock is sound and retains about 90% original

Standard grade carbine with 20" round barrel, full magazine, integral
ramp front sight and semi buckhorn rear sight. The wood is uncheckered
with straight stock and checkered steel buttplate. The left side of the
receiver is factory drilled and tapped for a receiver sight. SN 2340347
CONDITION: Very good to excellent. Retains 97-99% finish overall with
scattered pinpoints of rust on the receiver. Missing the sight hood. The
wood is sound and retains most of its original dark finish. Bright, shiny

late carbine with 20" round barrel, full magazine, ramp front sight
with hood and semi buckhorn rear sight. The wood is uncheckered with straight

SN 2274692 CONDITION: Very good to excellent. The metal retains about
all its original bright finish with minor edge wear and a couple of small
scratches. The wood is sound and retains 94-96% original finish with light

Retains virtually all its original finish to both metal and wood with

octagonal barrel. Missing the rear barrel sight and ramrod. The front
sight appears to be a replacement and is only partially on the barrel.
CONDITION: Moderate to heavy pitting overall. The tiger stripe stock has
been sanded and varnished and has two small cracks. The action is good.

Rust/brown patina overall. The stock has been broken, repaired, refinished,

Appears to be new and unfired, retaining virtually all its original finish

large boxes, mostly hardbacks with some paperbacks, and three or four
spiral bound loading manuals. The titles all deal with a variety of types
of firearms, firearms collecting, gunsmithing, etc., from the early American
period through modern times. Three of the books are Civil War-related:
History of the 5th Mass. Battery; 19th Reg. Mass. Volunteers; and 20th
Mass. Volunteers. All are in generally very good condition. Most that
