HARVEY LITTLETON ART GLASS SCULPTURE “SYMPATHETIC MOVEMENT”.

An early Harvey Littleton art glass sculpture having bent forms possibly using calcedonia in the glass. Made in the early glass movement in 1968, 3 bent forms gracefully cascade in a typical Littleton form. Signed “H.K. Littleton 1968.” Signed at base in script “Sympathetic Movement”. The design is adhered to a smoky plate glass with a transparent blue base. The large clear early art glass movement vessel is decorated with abstract strokes of magenta and black color. The center of the vessel is impressed while hot and terminates with a very small opening with lip at top. The reverse is decorated in a faint abstracted serpentine pattern. A cast glass and crystal sculpture by Baker O’Brien and Lukas-Novotny. This collaboration made in 1991 is combination of casting and construction. LARGE GALLE MARQUETRY IRIS VASE.

Galle vase has an opaque green glass applied pedestal foot. Vase is internally decorated with orange flame shaped swirls rising from the applied foot and shading to green swirls climbing to the irregular lip all against a creamy light green background. Vase is further decorated with marquetry blue, white and green irises and stems with light amber colored buds, each of the flowers is intricately wheel-carved creating wonderful detail. Back of vase is also decorated with blue, white and green marquetry flower which is also intricately carved. Green pedestal foot is also decorated with swirling bands of martele carving. Signed on side with engraved oriental signature “Galle”. Vase comes complete with its original presentation box with satin lining and leatherette exterior. SIZE: Vase 14-1/2″ t. LARGE GALLE MARQUETRY BUTTERFLY VASE.

Large Galle vase is internally decorated with a band of mottled amber surrounding the foot giving way to clear with tiny controlled bubbles which in turn gives way to an irregular band of purple at the top. Vase is further decorated with 2 stylized marquetry butterflies 1 red and white and 1 a wispy pastel peach, butterflies bodies, eyes and feelers are delicately wheel-carved as are the swirled lines behind the butterflies depicting wind carrying them. There is a third purple free form marquetry inlay on the side of the vase near the foot which is not carved. Signed on the front below the red butterfly with engraved signature “Galle”. GALLE MARQUETRY WHEEL-CARVED VASE.

Galle boat shaped vase has internally decorated body with swirls of white, purple, amber and orange throughout the glass. Vase is further decorated with green, white and purple marquetry Waterlilies all with wheel-carved detail. Swirling band is carved into the base just below the waterlilies following a line of the swirled internal decoration to depict waves in the lily pond. Vase is finished with wheel-carved martele panels to the side of each waterlily. Signed on the side with engraved oriental signature “Galle”. SIZE: 11″ l x 4-1/4″ t. GALLE ETUDE MARQUETRY VASE.

Galle vase has internal decoration of colored bands of dark amber at the bottom, light amber in the middle, cream at the shoulder shading to clear then to amber at the lip. Vase is further decorated with marquetry Anemone flower, stems and leaves in purple, yellow, brown, pink, white and gray. Flowers, stems and leaves are beautifully inlaid but have not been wheel-carved, upon close inspection there are several tiny tight cracks within the Anemone inlays which often happened in the production of marquetry pieces. When Galle thought a piece was of special merit, he would sign the damaged pieces anyway and also sign them “ETUDE” meaning study, this vase is signed on the underside with engraved signature “Galle Etude”. ART NOUVEAU CITRINE HAIR PIECE/PIN.

Art Nouveau hair piece in the manner of Lalique is made up of two 14k gold fish adorning each end with each fish having small diamond (tested) accents and green cabochon eye. Both mounted on an art nouveau style white metal base having six impressed floral amber glass panel inserts surrounding a citrine (untested) held in place by six talons which is further decorated with leaves and vines, each leaf having one small diamond (tested). Reverse is finished with double pins for support. Back is hallmarked an “R + L”. One panel of amber glass has spurious “R. Lalique France” etched on reverse. SIZE: Citrine is approx. 30mm x 22mm x 15mm. Overall 6″ x 2-1/4″ t at widest. PROVENANCE: Dr. Mark Jackson Collection CONDITION: Very good. Glass panels are all intact. Large Loetz vase in the rare PG/691 genre is decorated with platinum iridescent drag loop descending from the ruffled lip giving way to a rust colored pattern of drips descending towards the foot with random lines in areas of platinum iridescence. Decoration is completed with a platinum iridescent zipper design ascending from the foot all against a yellow background. This is an exhibition quality decor attributed to Franz Hofstoetter 1900. Austrian square bowl has rolled rim and is decorated with a flowing iridescent design showing strong red, green and purple highlights. Bowl has an amethyst glass interior with a small bit of iridescence in the bottom. Large Durand shade in the crackle pattern has silver lightly iridescent body with blue and white crackles, shade has a rounded top and flaring ruffled bottom rim. Oval KPM porcelain plaque depicts a young woman in flowing white gown holding an ancient oil lamp with a sheer scarf over her head. Plaque is mounted on a fabric covered backer board which is housed in an ornate gilded frame. Painting is beautifully detailed. Back of frame has a paper label that reads “K.P.M. Galleria Tornabuoni Via Tornabuoni 74-Firenze-tel. 284720”. SIZE: Plaque 5-5/8″ w x 7-1/2″ t. Frame 12-3/4″ w x 15″ t (overall). PROVENANCE: Dr. Mark Jackson Collection. CONDITION: Very good.
