TWO HANDLED FOOTED BOWL BY ARTHUR STONE, GARDNER, MASSACHUSETTS. Early mark with “L” representing Lamphrey, 1908-1911. A fine engraved dedication under the rim indicates the piece to have been a silver anniversary gift from the family of Hollis French who died during this year. French, a connoisseur and author on books on old silver, actually helped Stone design a chafing dish for the French’s own 25th wedding anniversary in 1921. WEIGHT: 9 tr. oz. TWO SIGNED LETTERS BY JOHN F. KENNEDY. Both involve the recent widow Mrs. Rita V. Stelline. The first letter, dated May 20th, 1953 is in response to Stephen D’Arcy’s request for information regarding the windows pension. It is on United States Senate John F. Kennedy stationary and signed “John Kennedy”. Accompanying the letter is a copy dated May 15th of the response to Kennedy from Colonel F. B. Carberry. Second letter dated June 8th, 1953 on Kennedy Senate stationary indicating to Stephen D’Arcy that the request is being dealt with by the Veterans Administration. It is signed “John” and has a copy of the original correspondence attached.
