WINCHESTER 3RD MODEL 1873 RIFLE WITH OCTAGON BARREL, FULL MAGAZINE AND CRESCENT BUTT.

SN 301938 B. Cal. 38 WCF. 24″ oct bbl, full magazine, blue finish, varnished straight grain American walnut stocks with crescent butt and steel fore-end cap. Bbl has standard 2-line Winchester address in front of rear sight and cal mark behind sight. Sights are standard for this model. Receiver is of the stepped variety. Upper tang is marked “Model 1873” with finials. Lower tang has SN stamped behind lever. Elevator has .38 cal stamped. Stocks are unmarked. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl and magazine tube retain 40-50% blue finish overall, blending with pleasing plumb brown patina. Bbl flats have a few dents on high edges. There is some staining and roughness at the muzzle. Bbl markings are sharp. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Sights are very good. Receiver has 50-60% bright blue with some light cleaning marks and balance turning a pleasing plumb brown patina. There are some small dents in front of the hammer. Tang marks are clear and sharp. Elevator is a mustard patina with a sharp mark. Hammer has considerable case cover overall, that is slightly dark. Lever is a silver brown patina with traces of case color in protected areas. Stocks are very good, full size, and retain nearly all of their varnish finish, with handling marks overall. Buttplate is a silver brown patina with some roughness at the heal. Fore-end cap retains 80% bright blue finish.
