WINCHESTER 3RD MODEL 1873 MUSKET WITH BAYONET.

SN 481987 B. Cal. 44 WCF. 30″ bbl, blue finish. Straight grained American walnut stocks with carbine butt and full length fore-end attached by 3 bands. Bbl has 2-line address in front of rear sight and “44 cal” stamped at breech end on top. Bbl has standard musket sights. Middle band has a sling swivel attached. Front sight is used for a bayonet stud. Receiver is standard 3rd Model type. Model 1873 is stamped on upper tang with finials. SN is stamped on lower tang behind lever. Elevator is stamped “44 cal”. Buttstock has sling swivel on bottom. 5-pc steel cleaning rod in butt. Carbine buttplate has case color finish. Bayonet is the proper type and is unmarked. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl is a plumb brown patina overall, with some slight scratches and sharp markings. Sights are very good. Bore is frosty with strong rifling. Receiver is a plumb brown patina overall with generous traces of blue on left side. Loading gate retains traces of blue. Hammer and lever are a plumb brown patina. Upper tang mark is sharp, although somewhat faded at forward end. Cal mark is sharp. Stocks are very good with handling marks and bruises overall. Buttplate has a generous amount of case color around the trap-door. Heal of butt has erosion. Bbl bands are also plumb brown patina. Bayonet is very good with bright finish and a small rust stain on the ring. A very good Winchester Model ’73 Musket with Bayonet. 49971-15 TEP (2,000-3,000) – Lot 1038
