LATE INSCRIBED COLT THIRD MODEL DRAGOON WITH HOLSTER.

SN 18343. Cal. 44. 7-1/2″ bbl, blade front sight, Colt New York City barrel address. 6-shot rnd cylinder. Left side of frame marked “Colt’s Patent”. Brass trigger guard and backstrap inscribed at butt “E Krauskopf”. Bbl and frame with SN 18343, trigger guard with SN 2846. Loading lever assembly is missing. Wedge is modern replacement. Small star scratched into trigger guard bow. 1-pc walnut grips. With early brown leather lightly tooled Slim Jim holster, maker unknown. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. “Bill” Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Good. All metal surfaces are gray wtih minor light scattered surface erosion. Wedge and loading lever as noted above. 1-pc walnut grips are good. Minor losses at toe and right shoulder near frame, as well as shrinkage throughout. Trigger guard has almost certainly been with this gun for a very, very long time as condition matches quite well. The inscription should be further researched and is likely of the period. Holster is very good, stitching is tight, drying and age crackling throughout. 49973-95 JSL162 (1,000-3,000) – Lot 1178
