SCARCE COLT 1851 NAVY 3RD MODEL CUT FOR SHOULDER STOCK WITH NON-MATCHING COLT SHOULDER STOCK.

SN 80136. Cal. 36. 7-1/2″ bbl, usual configuration dovetail front sight, Hartford address, six shot rnd cyl with Ormsby Naval battle scene, 4-screw frame with lanyard ring on bottom, 1-pc walnut grips, iron trigger guard and backstrap. Large guard. All matching including wedge. Non-matching shoulder stock has silver plated yoke and buttplate with a sling swivel at rear of tang. SN 104351 is stamped on lower tang and on buttplate. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. “Bill” Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Very good as found. Bbl retains a trace or two of original blue though mostly light gray and couple small areas of minor staining. Lever retains approximately 30% original case color. Cyl scene is 65-70% present. Frame retains 30-40% original case color as does hammer. Grips are very good with light finish losses ans still retain approximately 65% original varnish. Backstrap with great original silver. Trigger guard has mostly toned. Mechanics are excellent. Bore is bright and shiny. Should er stock is very good and retains 80% dull silver finish on the yoke. Mounting screw is a rough gray patina with pitting on the latch. Buttplate retains 80% dull silver finish, with most of the wear on the heel. Stock retains almost all of the varnish finish with numerous mars and dents overall. 49973-449 JSL132 (3,000-5,000) – Lot 1207
