FINE COLT 1855 ROOT PERCUSSION REVOLVER.

SN 12322. Cal. 31. Very nice example of 2nd model Root with 3-1/2″ oct bbl made in 1856 only 2nd year of production, gun appears 100% original and matching, retaining much of its original finish. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. “Bill” Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Bbl, frame which includes the integral grip strap retain about 70% bright finish though thinning on bbl. Markings are all crisp and well defined. Top of grip frame has several cuts and bruises which can be seen in photos. Cylinder has no finish but crisp well discerned rolled “Cabin & Indian Fight” cylinder scene with slight pitting around nipples, gray/plum overall. Grips retain virtually all their original bright factory finish with edge wear. Mechanically gun is functional with crisp rifling in lightly pitted bore. 49973-429 JS (2,000-4,000) – Lot 1223
