COLT MODEL 1861 NAVY CONVERSION.

SN 2120. Cal. 38. This conversion is very interesting in that trigger guard markings have been changed to “38CAL / RF”. Conversion was done by unknown gunsmith but markings appear 19th century and gun matches nicely overall. Revolver was converted with well made breech ring with no provision for loading assembly. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. “Bill” Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Gun is good to very good, cleaned gray/bright overall. Matching SNs found on wedge, bbl, frame, trigger guard, backstrap and cylinder. Well fit grips were not removed but appear original to gun, 2 large chips on each side grip to either toe. Breech ring and cartridge gate fit with ball and socket closure. Overall markings are discernible but weak bbl address and patent markings on frame. Gun is slightly loose between bbl housing and frame. There is a spurious “U.S.N.” on right side of frame. Mechanically gun is sound with crisp bore. 49973-172 JS (1,000-2,000) – Lot 1276
