*COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER WITH ONE PIECE WALNUT GRIP.

SN 187980. Cal .45 Colt, 7-1/2″ Bbl has a 1-line address on top with a non-orig cal mark at the left rear. Front sight is high and has been trimmed to shape. Frame has 2-line patent date on forward left side with rampant Colt logo in circle to the right side. SN’s match on frame, trigger guard, and back strap. Cylinder is unmarked. Grip was not removed. This revolver is accompanied by a Colt factory letter showing orig shipment in .45 cal with 4-3/4″ bbl and blue finish. Stocks are not listed. Shipment was to Richards & Conover Hardware Company, Kansas City, Missouri on August 3, 1899 in a 6 gun shipment. There is also a letter from the consignor stating that he had conversation with Colt Historian Joe Canali, regarding this firearm which states that “Since there were six (6) guns in the order, they could have had different bbl lengths; — that that information was “supposed” to be noted but mistakes, though rare, do occur”. PROVENANCE: The Brad Shepherd Collection. CONDITION: Very good as totally refinished. Bbl has a sharp late address. Cal mark is re-cut. Front sight is high and has been reshaped. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Frame is a mottled silver patina and shows cleaning. Screws are replaced. Hammer has coarse knurling. Trigger guard and backstrap retain 80% re-blued finish over pitting. Cylinder retains 80% re-blue finish. Grip is not orig and retains nearly all of the flat varnish finish. 50062-8 C&R (1,500-2,000) – Lot 1332
