*SMITH & WESSON PRE MODEL 29 44 MAGNUM REVOLVER WITH EXTRA 8-3/8″ BARREL AND SMITH & WESSON SHIPPING BOX.

SN S166051. Cal. .44 MAG. 6-1/2″ bbl (8-3/8″ extra bbl), blue and case colored finish. Checkered Goncalvo Alves target grips with S&W medallions. Adjustable target sights with red insert on front sight. Grooved trigger, checkered wide spur hammer, 5 screw frame, and pinned bbl. Smith & Wesson shipping box from January 1998, when orig bbl was reinstalled. 8-3/8″ bbl has brass insert in front sight. SNs match on orig 6-1/2″ bbl, cyl and frame. No SN on extra bbl. PROVENANCE: Accompanying this revolver is a letter from S&W Historian Roy Jinks confirming all features and showing shipment on June 11th, 1956, to Jurek Brothers Inc., of Greenfield, Mass. CONDITION: Very fine, bbl retains 99% deep blue finish, with slight high point wear on the ejector housing. Sights are very fine. Bore is bright with sharp rifling. Bbl and cal markings are sharp and clear. Cyl retains 98% bright blue with slight stains at the front of each chamber and a light drag mark at the rear of the cyl. Chambers are very good. Frame retains 98% bright blue finish with only slight staining behind the hammer and in the center of the S&W logo on the right side. Trigger and hammer retain 98% vivid case color. Grips are very fine with sharp checkering and only miniscule handling marks. A very hard to improve upon early 5 screw frame 44 Magnum S&W Pre-Model 29 revolver. 49583-10 TEP C&R (1,500-2,500) – Lot 1341
