SCARCE GRADE 4 REMINGTON MODEL 1878 HAMMER GUN.SN 618. 10 Ga. 32″ Damascus bbls. 3″ chambers. Choked: MOD/MOD. Damascus top rib marked “E REMINGTON & SONS ILION NY” with steel front bead and doll’s head extension. Double triggers, extractors, no safety. Nicely figured English grip stock with 13-3/4″ LOP over unengraved full steel buttplate. Buttstock with long trigger guard tang in classic 2-point checkering. Splinter forearm with 4-point checkering and horn teardrop tip with wedge forend fastener. Receiver lightly scroll engraved, as is first inch of top rib, top lever, trigger guard and bottom of frame. Frame scallops also beautifully engraved in geometric designs and zig-zag borders. Hammers also lightly scroll engraved. Weight: 9 lb 14 oz. PROVENANCE: The Estate of B.E. “Andy” Anderson. CONDITION: Very good. Bbls retain 95-98% professionally restored Damascus pattern with light handling marks. Receiver, trigger guard, buttplate and top lever have all turned mostly gray with minor darkened spots. Buttstock and forend retain nearly all finely restored finish, checkering expertly recut.
