SCARCE GRADE 4 REMINGTON WHITMORE.SN 2335. 10 Ga. 30″ laminated steel bbls. 2-3/4″ chambers. Choked: MOD/MOD. Full length laminated steel top rib with steel front bead marked “REMINGTON & SONS, ILION NY.” Double triggers, extractors, no safety. Flame grain American walnut stock with beautiful ball grip and 14″ LOP over full steel buttplate. Splinter forearm with 2-point checkering pattern and wedge fastener with horn forend tip. Buttstock beautifully checkered around ball grip in 2-point pattern. Lockplates and frame are tastefully light scroll engraved with well executed shading in fine border patterns throughout. Trigger guard with a burst of scroll on bow and at back of tang. Screw heads engraved in floral patterns, except for hammer screws and buttplate screws which are unengraved. Weight: 8 lb 7 oz. PROVENANCE: The Estate of B.E. “Andy” Anderson. CONDITION: Very good. Bbls retain most of a restored laminated pattern with a few light scratches and handling marks. Receiver has turned mostly gray with traces of case color and minor areas of staining. Trigger guard retains approx 80% of an older restored blue, starting to tone and fade. Buttstock and forearm retain nearly all of what is likely a restored finish, though could be original, checkering is crisp. Buttplate has toned gray with handling marks and minor staining. Mechanics are excellent. Bores bright and shiny with a few scattered pits. Overall a rare high grade Remington hammer gun. 49531-61 JSL130 (2,000-3,000) – Lot 1355
