RARE REMINGTON MODEL 1889 GRADE 4 HAMMER GUN.SN 61236. 12 Ga. 30″ Damascus bbls. 2-3/4″ chambers. Choked: IMP CYL/MOD. Full length matted rib with steel front bead marked “REMINGTON ARMS CO ILION NY USA” with doll’s head extension. Double triggers, extractors, no safety. Water table marked with SN and Grade 4 marking. Full pistol grip buttstock with 13-1/2″ LOP over Remington Arms Co monogrammed and checkered hard rubber buttplate. Buttstock and splinter forend checkered in classic 2-point pattern. Forend with Deeley release and teardrop ebony tip. Receiver nicely border engraved with light scroll engraving and marked “REMINGTON ARMS CO” on both right and left sides, burst of scroll on trigger guard. Frame and hammer screws are engraved. Weight: 8 lb 9 oz. PROVENANCE: The Estate of B.E. “Andy” Anderson. CONDITION: Very good. Bbls retain 70-75% orig Damascus pattern. Receiver retains 15-20% orig case color, mostly turned gray. Trigger guard and forearm iron have toned. Buttstock is fair with a number of light scratches and gouges, one particularly deep gouge behind pistol grip on bottom left of grip. Forearm with light scratches and handling marks. Checkering is very good with wear. Buttstock retains about half of its orig varnish, starting to darken towards butt. Buttplate is very good. Mechanics are excellent. Bores are bright and shiny with a few scattered pits and minor dents throughout. 49531-39 JSL140 (600-1,000) – Lot 1369
