*◊ EXCEPTIONALLY FINE MAUSER RED 9 BROOMHANDLE RIG WITH STOCK.

SN 73738. Cal. 9mm. World War I production and Imperial proofed. 5-1/2″ bbl with slide adjustable sight from 50 to 500. 3-line Mauser address on top flat of chamber. SN 73738 on second flat of chamber crown/crown/U proofs on left side of chamber. Crown M on right side of chamber. Eagle marking found on front of magazine well designating issue to units of the German State of Prussia. After detailed disassembly, parts found to be matching with exception of unnumbered magazine follower. Grips were found to be fully numbered 73, 738 on both grip panels. Blue finish overall with nitre blue finish on extractor, boltstop, rear sight slide, safety and trigger. Balance of internal parts are arsenal grey. Still retains lanyard ring and is accompanied with Imperial marked shoulder stock without attaching loop, and iron renumbered to match. Housed in appropriate “1917” dated leather carrier. PROVENANCE: The Friedrich-Wilhelm Dauphin Collection, Germany. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine overall, for a typically hard used World War I handgun. Most all blue finish remains with slight wear from wooden holster storage on high points of upper receiver and muzzle. Frame has slight wear at stock slot from having been attached to stock, as well as typical takedown wear just below hammer. Matching 2-pc wood grips are exceptionally fine with most arsenal red paint remaining in the large 9. Exceptionally fine bore and mechanics. Stock is very fine and sound and may have been slightly cleaned at some previous time but is indiscernible. Has no cracks or material loss whatsoever. Hinge has slight corrosion and finish loss from age. Stock lug has been professionally refinished and renumbered to match the firearm. Leather holster is complete with correct wiping and takedown tool and still retains proper spare magazine spring in pouch. Tab for wiping tool has pulled through but is still intact, but holster is nicely makers marked “HOHMANN & SOHN/KAISERLAUTERN 1917”.
