Guns are a true pair with “1” and “2” gold inlaid on top levers and forend tips. Bbls are engraved “Made for J Rigby & C. London” and “By Fratelli Piotti of Gardone V.T. Italy”. Bottoms of bbls are stamped with 1990 Italian nitro proofs for 2-3/4″ chambers. Coin finished sidelock actions feature automatic safeties (S inlaid in gold), raised arrow tumbler end cocking indicators, and double triggers (front “loose”). Actions and lockplates are engraved with well cut traditional small scroll with rose bouquet highlights. Coin finished single beaded trigger guards have SNs at grips. “Flli. Piotti Italy” is on each lockplate. Well matched, dark veined and lightly figured European walnut straight grip buttstocks measure 15-1/2″ over fully checkered wood butts. Stocks feature drop points, diamond hands, closely spaced borderless point pattern checkering, and .585 marked gold ovals engraved with initials “JWS”. Bores are excellent. Actions are tight. Ejectors are strong and in time. Case leather is excellent with a few light rubs and some small dots of white paint. Straps and handle are excellent.
