*NICELY MATCHED PAIR OF PIOTTI “KING – 1” SIDELOCK EJECTOR GAME GUNS MADE FOR J. RIGBY & CO WITH CASE.

SN 8863/ 8864. Cal. 12 ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. 28″ Chopper lump bbls with swamped, narrow game ribs, have gold inlaid “1” and “2” at rear portions. Guns are a true pair with “1” and “2” gold inlaid on top levers and forend tips. Bbls are engraved “Made for J Rigby & C. London” and “By Fratelli Piotti of Gardone V.T. Italy”. Bottoms of bbls are stamped with 1990 Italian nitro proofs for 2-3/4″ chambers. Coin finished sidelock actions feature automatic safeties (S inlaid in gold), raised arrow tumbler end cocking indicators, and double triggers (front “loose”). Actions and lockplates are engraved with well cut traditional small scroll with rose bouquet highlights. Coin finished single beaded trigger guards have SNs at grips. “Flli. Piotti Italy” is on each lockplate. Well matched, dark veined and lightly figured European walnut straight grip buttstocks measure 15-1/2″ over fully checkered wood butts. Stocks feature drop points, diamond hands, closely spaced borderless point pattern checkering, and .585 marked gold ovals engraved with initials “JWS”. Matching splinter ejector forends have Anson releases. BBL set no. “1”: Bore diameter: left -.727, right -.727. Bore restrictions: left -.025 (Lt Mod), right -.014 (I mod). Drop at heel: 2-1/4″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Weight: 6 lbs 11 oz. LOP: 15-1/2″. BBL set no. “2”: Bore diameter: left -.727, right -.727. Bore restrictions: left -.027 (I mod), right -.016 (mod). Case is lined in burgundy cloth and has gold embossed black leather Rigby label in lid. Case contains 2-pc rosewood and brass cleaning rod and a Rigby bench cloth. CONDITION: Excellent, showing evidence of little use, with light cartridge halos on breechfaces. Most finish loss on bbls is due to contact with forend during firing. There are a few scattered light marks. Coin finish is excellent, as are stocks, with only a few handling marks in their hand rubbed oil finish, and slight compressions to checkering on butts. Bores are excellent. Actions are tight. Ejectors are strong and in time. Case leather is excellent with a few light rubs and some small dots of white paint. Straps and handle are excellent.
