*FINE DANIEL FRASER (BLACK ISLE) TRIGGER PLATE ACTION EJECTOR DOUBLE RIFLE WITH CASE.

SN 5076. (1997) Cal. .416 Rigby. 24″ Dovetailed bbls are fitted with quarter rib mounted with one standing, two folding leaf express rear sight. This rib transitions to classic sunken mid rib with front ramp holding gold bead. Top of quarter rib is engraved “DAN’l FRASER & CO Cromarty. Black Isle Scotland.” Caliber is engraved on rear portion. Extractors have been fitted with Holland’s tried and true camming lugs for rimless cartridges. Bbl flats are stamped with 1991 London proofs for .416 Rigby. Bbl makers initials “H&H” are stamped on left bbl. A sling loop is soldered to bottom rib. Robust, case hardened, rounded bar, trigger plate action features automatic safety (SAFE gold inlaid), long top tang which extends over comb, bushed strikers, and double triggers. Action is engraved with full coverage well executed large open flowing acanthus scroll with shaded background. This scroll surrounds portrait of cape buffalo on bottom of action. (Consignors notes state that this engraving was done by Keith Spibey.) Single beaded and blued trigger guard has SN gold inlaid on tang, which extends to case hardened and engraved steel trap grip cap. Beautifully fiddle figured and finely streaked, dense European walnut buttstock measures 14″ over thin Silver type pad, and features large shadow line right hand cheekpiece, classic point pattern checkering with mullered borders at grip, and a vacant silver oval and sling loop matching that on bbls, on toe line. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. Drop at heel: approx 2-1/2″, drop at comb: approx 1-7/8″. Weight: 10 lbs 0 oz. LOP: 14”. Good quality gold canvas case with leather trim is lined in dark burgundy cloth and has gold embossed black leather Fraser label in lid. Case contains 2-pc beech and brass cleaning rod, brass oiler, rosewood handled turnscrew, brown leather wallet containing some cleaning patches, A & F marked square oil bottle, and some gun lube. PROVENANCE: Consignors notes. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, near new, with only the slightest of light handling marks in metal finishes. Stocks have a few light spots along with some minor knocks and dings in their orig finish. Bores are excellent. Mechanically crisp. Rifle appears essentially unfired since proof. Case canvas is slightly faded. Straps and handle are good. Interior cloth is fine, with some cuts and rubs mostly from contact with sights. Accessories are fine.
