*SUPERB TWENTY BORE JAMES PURDEY SIDELOCK EJECTOR GAME GUN WITH CASE.

SN 30357. (2009) Cal. 20 bore. This svelte small bore gun has finely struck 27″ chopper lump bbls with narrow, concave game rib. Tops of bbls are engraved “J. Purdey & Sons” and “London England”. Bbl flats are stamped with 2009 London nitro proofs for 2-3/4″ chambers. Bottom of rear lump is engraved with importers name and address (Griffin & Howe). Bottom of right bbl is stamped with SN. Small case hardened Beesley patent self-opening action features non-automatic safety (SAFE gold inlaid), bushed strikers, gold band tumbler end cocking indicators, and double triggers. Action and lockplates are engraved in classic Purdey house style with well cut small scroll and rose bouquets. “J. Purdey & Sons” is on each lockplate. Engravers signature, “M Bublik”, is on trigger plate in front of trigger guard bow. Blued single beaded trigger guard is also rose and scroll engraved, and has SN at grip. Exceptional European walnut buttstock with dark veining and flashy figure measures 14-5/8″ over checkered wood butt. Classic drop points are behind lockplates. Standard point pattern checkering with mullered borders is at grip. A vacant gold oval is on toe line. Matching splinter ejector forend with iron engraved with initials “J. C. B” has Anson release. Bore diameter: left -.611, right -.611. Bore restrictions: left -.008 (IC), right -.000 (cyl). Wall thickness: left -.033, right -.033. Drop at heel: 1-15/16″, drop at comb: 1-3/8″. Weight: 5 lbs 14 oz. LOP: 14-5/8”. Makers tan leather case with stitched leather corners is stamped with Purdey name and “London” under latch. Case is lined in scarlet cloth and has gold embossed black leather Purdey label in lid. Case contains a pair of Purdey marked brass and ebony snap caps, Purdey marked round oil bottle, and Purdey new gun/ maintenance record booklet containing information on this gun. CONDITION: Excellent, near new, with scant evidence of light field use. Bbls show a hint of silvering on sharp edges and some marks from contact with forend. Top lever shows the slightest of silvering on top sharp edge of thumbpiece. There is some slight silvering at grip on trigger guard. Breechfaces show some slight halos from cartridges. There are a few minor light marks on butt. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are strong and in time. Case leather is excellent with one or two minor scuffs. Handle and straps are excellent. Interior cloth is also excellent with the slightest of soiling and rubs from contact with action and bbls. Accessories are excellent.
