**FINE ORIGINAL GERMAN WWII MP-40 MACHINE GUN (CURIO & RELIC).

SN 2299b. Cal. 9mm. Bbl 9.9″. Fine specimen of a German WWII MP-40, as manufactured by Steyr with C.G. Haenel parts. Sling ring bbl, resting bar and sight all manufactured by “fxo” indicating C.G. Haenel manufacture with tube and lower assembly by “bnz” (Steyr). MP-40s are often typically assembled using parts from various subcontractors. Front sight assembly is from an earlier MP-38 model with tab above muzzle nut. Bolt is unnumbered with Steyr eagle proof. Markings on this specimen indicate 1944 manufacture. Lot includes 2 orig “41” dated magazines and 1 orig magazine loader, as well as a leather sling. Bbl nut retention bar is white metal with eagle over 37 proof mark (C.G. Haenel). Unserialized bbl exhibits typical Eagle over 37 proofs w/Nazi Eagle firing proof on left side. The MP-40 has achieved wide recognition by both veterans and film-goers as an iconic German submachine gun. This is a National Firearms Act item and requires BATF approval prior to transfer. This weapon is fully transferable on an ATF form 3 or form 4 as Curio & Relic eligible. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is fine w/deep lustrous blue on bbl w/somewhat duller orig finish w/some small areas of pitting on the receiver and magazine housing w/somewhat more lustrous finish on end cap and swing-out shoulder loop. Brown composite furnishings are very good w/hand-inscribed name “King” and “FRANKFURT” lightly inscribed on left side. Mechanics are fine, bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright, as nice as this cataloger has seen in an MP-40. Magazines are also fine, as is loader finish with some wear to the high edges. Nice late war style sling in fine orig condition. Nice C&R specimens such as this are highly sought collector’s items and do not come up very frequently. 53166-4 JWK (18,000-22,000) C&R – Lot 1020
