CLOCKWORK MECHANICAL BEAR OF FRENCH MANUFACTURE. Most likely this toy from the early 20th century is of French manufacture and possibly by DeCamps. When wound, the bear would trudge forward in a lifelike manner and open and close his ferocious jaws while turning his head. This glass eyed fellow with rabbit fur is very lifelike and he has a muzzle placed about his mouth and more than likely he was used a a trained bear for the circus or street fairs. SIZE: Approx. 9-1/2″ l. CONDITION: Overall very fine and in working order. 1-11430 (450-850)
