MECHANICAL AUTOMATION OF BLACK GENTLEMAN SELLING COFFEE. This electrified version features a seated black figure, perhaps Moroccan, with his legs crossed, seated on a pillow, pouring coffee from a coffee urn into a cup and proceeding to drink his java. An incredible amount of movements are associated with this piece. While pouring the coffee he looks about observing, his eyes dash from right to left while his eyebrows raise and lower. Raising his left arm with the coffee cup and taking a sip of his brew his lips move, eyebrows arch upwards, eyes dash about and head turns from right to left. All in all, there are 7 totally distinct movements. This particular one was probably customized at a point in time and utilized as a store display. Certainly this would garner the prospective customer’s attention and more than likely they would be inclined to try the product. The figure himself appears to be in all original condition with some aged minor touch-up repair to the lip area and wrist. SIZE: 18″ w x 14″ d x 25″ h. CONDITION: Overall good to very good. Back wood panel door is a replacement, new electrical cord should be installed. Advertising sign on from possibly not original. Wood veneer on left side of cabinet has some lifting/loss at base. 1-11319 (1,000-1,500)
