BOXED FISCHER “FLAPPING WING” BLERIOT AIRPLANE TIN W/U TOY. An awesome toy from the early 20th century manufactured by Fischer who produced many unique and interesting toys. This particular piece retains its original box with a picture of the toy on the lid as well as the paper instructions. The mechanism contained under the pilot when wound would activate the front and rear propellers and as it rolled upon the ground the wings would give the illusion of flapping and taking this toy airborne. The airplane body and pilot are of high quality lithography and the propellers and rudder are of celluloid. A unique form as well as a very desirable and highly sought after toy. It is a rarity to still have the original box and instructions! SIZE: Approx. 10″ l excluding rudder. CONDITION: Very fine plus. 1-11521 (3,500-5,500)
