LAMBERT AUTOMATON WITH CLOSED MOUTH JUMEAU HEAD. A classic French automaton with music circa 1890s featuring a fancifully dressed young girl with bisque hands and several movements including raising each hand, tipping her head forward and turning her head from side to side. This young girl obviously held something in her hands, perhaps a mirror, comb or flowers? The outfit and undergarments appear to be original and show only minimal distress. Her shoes have wonderful metal appliques which look like dragonflies at first glance. She features amber paperweight eyes, pale bisque, delicately painted mouth and is standing atop a square cloth covered base. Retains original iron key marked “LB” and is in fine functional working order. SIZE: Approx. 19″ t. CONDITION: Overall very good to fine. Material on base was possibly recovered at some point in time. Wig not fully removed, but bisque head, partial shoulder plate and bisque hands appear to be free of damage. 1-11456 (4,000-6,000)
