DAYS OF “49” WHISKEY CARDBOARD SIGN. Extremely scarce stone lithograph scene of a Gold Rush era wagon train being pulled by teams of oxen. The panoramic illustration shows the lead trail scouts pausing in front of a group of Indians who are seen sampling a crate of “Days of 49″ whiskey, possibly a toll extracted from a previous passage. Sign was lithographed by H. S. Crocker Co. of San Francisco for Meyerfeld, Mitchell & Co., San Francisco. SIZE: Image: 33-1/2″ x 21-1/2”. CONDITION: The surface varnish has darkened the sign considerably but due to its rarity, an excellent candidate to have cleaned and conserved. 1-11179 (1,000-2,000)
