PENNSYLVANIA OVER/UNDER KENTUCKY RIFLE, D. BOYER. Ca. 1841. This example is an over and under, swivel barrel, , original percussion rifle with full wood paneling. Inscribed on the stock on a silvered and engraved patchbox “D.Boyer Orwigsburg” also engraved on the sideplate “David B. Brown 1841”. The stock is beautiful, figured maple. David or Daniel Boyer was a gunsmith located in Orwigsburg, PA circa 1820-1850. PROVENANCE: From a fine coastal Maine estate. CONDITION: “As found” condition. It appears to be structurally sound. The finish is scrubbed and somewhat grimed. The stock appears to over cleaned or refinished, especially the forend wood. 9-94610 (2,000-4,000)
