OIL ON CANVAS “SARGENT’S STOCKBRIDGE, MASS 1860” BY J.W. Scene shows large tree with leaves with fences, cart, and cows next to dirt road. Identified and dated on front. Identified, dated, and signed on back of canvas. Also states “Tree planted by Jonathan Edwards”. Jonathan Edwards was a renowned pastor in Norhthampton Mass from 1726-1750. From 1751-1757 he went to Stockbridge, Mass. He is best known for his writings during the “Great Awakening”. SIZE: 10 1/2″ h x 9 1/2″ w. CONDITION: Very good. 9-92063 (300-500)
