SUPERB 19TH CENTURY SEVRES FIGURE. This lavish Sevres figure depicts what is purportedly Marie Antoinette in her extravagant sedan chair. The rococo design chair has all-over gilt and delicately painted vignettes of court scenes with maids and gentlemen. The underside marked with the Sevres “S” and scalloped border. This figure descended from a Maine family whose ancestor was an ambassador to Russia from the United States during the late 19th C. According to the family, it was at this time that the figure was acquired. SIZE: 9 1/2″ h. CONDITION: Appears very good to excellent. 9-92397 (700-900)
